|
Nuclear, radiation, environmental and industrial safety is one of priority activities of the TVEL Fuel Company. These issues are competently treated by special divisions which include laboratories for nuclear safety, environmental protection, radiation safety as well as occupational safety units and technical supervision groups.
In ecology and safety JSC TVEL works in parallel in two areas: environmental safety of territories adjacent to its enterprises and efficient use of natural resources and nuclear materials. The Fuel Company pays a special attention to elimination of adverse environmental consequences and damage to the environment done by the enterprises in previous years and to rehabilitation of contaminated territories.
At JSC TVEL’s enterprises the environmental protection system is enhancing and expanding to new areas. The system analysis of the environmental situation has acquired the first priority. This activity is carried out in cooperation with specialists from research institutes and their regional offices.
The Fuel Company enterprises’ high level of environmental safety is confirmed by certificates of conformance of their Environment Management Systems to the international standard ISO 14001:1996. Not a single violation rated by the INES (International Nuclear Event Scale) has been reported at JSC TVEL’s nuclear facilities over their lifespans. Printable version |
