Zirconium
Zirconium is fabricated at Chepetsk Mechanical Plant which is the only in Russia and one of the three largest plants in the world specializing in such production.
Chepetsk Mechanical Plant produces a broad range of zirconium and its alloy items, which are used in nuclear power; diode and aerospace machinery;
car, gas and oil refining industry; and shipbuilding.

JSC Chemical and Metallurgical Plant manufactures uranium products for cooperative supplies to the Corporation’s enterprises. A unique technology has been developed to extract alkaline rare metals – lithium, rubidium, cesium and gallium. The production has been set up for synthetic granulated zeolites, construction lime.
In the framework of engineering and process development program the enterprise has modernized uranium dioxide powders production line which increased the output by 1.4 times. Additionally, lithium production line has been upgraded.

Global nuclear power
Nuclear power is to meets growing energy demands of mankind while reserves of non-recoverable resources are limited. Nuclear fuel, as compared to other energy vectors, gives the possibility to generate millions of times more energy. Moreover, the resources here are not exhaustible. Additionally, nuclear power contribution to the growth of “greenhouse effect” is negligible.
Nuclear power share amounts to approximately 16% of total electricity generation in Russia. Nuclear share of the entire energy mix for the European part of the country is 30% and for the Northwest – approximately 40%.
The Russian nuclear industry consists of about 200 enterprises with more than 300,000 employees. Four large scientific and production complexes form the structure of the industry and include enterprises of nuclear fuel cycle and nuclear weapons, nuclear power scientific and research institutes and enterprises.
