1991
THE STATE-OWNED CONCERN “TVEL”
нwas set up based on the Third Main Technological Department of the Ministry of Nuclear Power and Industry of the USSR.

OPEN JOINT STOCK COMPANY “TVEL”
was founded in accordance with Order of the President of the Russian Federation No. 166 dated 08.02.1996 “On Improving the Management of Nuclear Fuel Cycle Enterprises”.
The Russian Federation owned 100% the company’s shares. While setting up OJSC TVEL, the stocks of nuclear fuel fabrication enterprises were put in its authorized capital:

1996
VITALIY FEDOROVICH KONOVALOV was the founder and first president of JSC TVEL from 1996 until 2000 (Ph.D. in Engineering Science, twofold winner of the State Prize of the USSR and former Minister of Nuclear Power and Industry of the USSR (from 1989 until 1991)).
1997
OJSC MSZ (Elektrostal, Moscow Region) fabricated the
FIRST BATCH OF VVER-440 FUEL ASSEMBLIES,
and it was accepted by the interagency commission.
OJSC TVEL and CHINA signed the contract for supply of Russian fuel to two power units of Tianwan NPP

1998
OJSC MSZ (Elektrostal, Moscow Region) fabricated the FIRST BATCH OF VVER-440 WITH COMPONENT PARTS MADE OF INGOTS MANUFACTURED BY THE PRECISION CASTING TECHNIQUE
1999
THE CONTRACT FOR SUPPLY OF NUCLEAR FUEL TO PAKS NPP (HUNGARY) WAS SIGNED. It is effective until the end of the plant’s lifetime (considering planned extension until 2037)

By the beginning of the 2000s, JSC TVEL increased its shares in subsidiaries, set up auxiliary infrastructure companies as well as consolidated sectoral mining assets which then served as the basis for forming the sectoral uranium mining company OJSC Atomredmetzoloto (at present JSC ARMZ).
2001
THE TENDER FOR SUPPLY OF NUCLEAR FUEL TO DUKOVANY NPP (CZECH REPUBLIC) WAS WON. From 2003 until 2018, JSC TVEL supplied to Dukovany NPP modified fuel, which made possible to shift from the three-year fuel campaign to the five-year one.

2003
Modernized fuel TVS-A was successfully tested during operation of Unit No. 3 of Zaporozhe NPP (Ukraine). The fuel was developed and fabricated by OJSC TVEL.
The contract was signed with the Indian corporation for atomic energy NPCIL for supply of nuclear fuel for Kudankulam NPP (India).
OJSC CMP (Glazov, Udmurt Republic) has started the science-intensive production of superconducting materials in the frames of the International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor (ITER) construction project on the site in Cadarache (France).

A unique package of works was successfully completed to recover the damaged equipment for washing FAs at Paks NPP (Hungary). This work confirmed high level of Russian nuclear technologies and professionalism of OJSC TVEL’s employees.

Nuclear fuel supplies to China’s Tianwan NPP have been started.
2005
The long-term contract for nuclear fuel supplies to Armenian NPP was signed until the end of its operation.
2006
The tender for nuclear fuel supplies for Loviisa NPP (Finland) was won.
The international tender for nuclear fuel supplies for two power units of Temelin NPP in the Czech Republic was won.

2007

In 2007, Joint Stock Company “Atomic Energy Power Corporation” became the sole shareholder of OJSC TVEL, which integrated civil assets of the Russian nuclear industry..

According to the Federal Law No.317-FZ dated December 1, 2007 ‘On the State Atomic Energy Corporation “Rosatom”’, the OJSC Atomenergoprom’s shares (100%), which were owned by the Russian Federation, were handed over to ROSATOM as an asset contribution of the Russian Federation.

THE ADOPTION OF THE FEDERAL LAW “ON THE STATE ATOMIC ENERGY CORPORATION “ROSATOM”. All shares of OJSC TVEL were put in the equity capital of Joint Stock Company “Atomic Energy Power Corporation”. 100% of OJSC Atomenergoprom’s shares were handed over to ROSATOM.
OJSC TVEL’s COMPANIES STARTED IMPLEMENTING THE “NEW LOOK” PROGRAM, which was aimed at increasing the labor productivity, reduction of cost and growth of wages of the employees

2008
OJSC TVEL’s companies have started to implement the ROSATOM Production System and set up first pilot sections.
The interagency commission accepted new type of fuel – TVSA-Alfa – at OJSC MSZ (Elektrostal, Moscow Region). The fuel assembly design included mixing grids, which made possible to operate the item at an increased power level.

2009
In September 2009, ROSATOM took the decision to set up the Fuel Company of ROSATOM TVEL based on OJSC TVEL which merged, along with OJSC TVEL and affiliates and subsidiaries, conversion and enrichment companies and gas centrifuge machine manufacturers of the Russian nuclear industry.
OJSC TVEL and the Department of Atomic Energy of the Government of India signed long-term contracts for supplies of fuel pellets for nuclear power plants of India.

The nuclear installation of the Chemical and Metallurgical Plant for making uranium dioxide ceramic powders of low enrichment was put out of operation in Krasnoyarsk.
Fuel Company TVEL signed the long-term contract with Slovenské elektrárne a.s. for nuclear fuel supply to Units No. 3 and 4 of Mohovce NPP under construction
Fuel Company TVEL has signed with China the contracts for nuclear fuel supplies for Unit No. 1 of Tianwan NPP, zirconium components to fabricate UTVS fuel of the sixth refueling of Units Nos. 1 and 2, seventh refueling of Unit No. 2, and TVS-2M.
The long-term contract for nuclear fuel supply for Ukrainian NPPs has been signed.
2011
TVS-KVADRAT HAS BEEN DESIGNED

Unit No. 2 of Temelin NPP (Czech Republic) carried out prescheduled defueling of American FAs and replaced them with Russian ones.
OJSC MSZ completed the acceptance tests of the first set of fuel assemblies for the floating NPP.

2014
Contractual documents were signed for complete supplies of nuclear fuel made of feed RS-E for Dukovany NPP (Czech Republic) commencing 2015.
The contract for supply of fuel and complete parts for Units No. 3 and 4 of Tianwan NPP (China) was signed
First TVS-KVADRATs were loaded into a PWR reactor of a Western country for pilot commercial operation.
The State Expertise (FAD Glavgosekspertiza of Russia) granted a positive statement and approved the project for the site of the pilot demonstration complex (PDC) in JSC SCC (Seversk, Tomsk Region).
The acceptance tests of the lead assembly for BREST-OD-300 reactors were completed in JSC SCC
The pilot commercial batch of the generation 9+ gas centrifuges was made at PJSC KMP (Kovrov, Vladimir Region) and put under tests at JSC UECC (Novouralsk, Sverdlovsk Region).
Following the results of the tender, the contractual documents were signed for nuclear fuel supplies to Slovak NPPs in 2016-2021.
The fuel supply contracts for research reactors in the Czech Republic, Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan were signed.
2015
In 2015, OJSC TVEL was reshaped into JSC TVEL.
The supplement was signed with JNPC/CNEIC to the fuel contract concerning the transition of Units Nos. 3 and 4 of Tianwan NPP (PRC) to operation in the long-term 18-month fuel cycle.
Acceptance tests were carried out for the new generation fuel TVSA-12 with improved performance characteristics
The contract for supplies of fuel pellets made of enriched uranium to fabricate fuel rods for Tarapur NPP (India) was signed.
The contract for supplies of FAs and zirconium complete parts for the research reactor Maria (Poland) was signed.
Eleven pilot FAs with nitride fuel were fabricated by JSC SCC and installed in BN-600 reactor for tests.
The first experimental FA with MOX fuel was fabricated.
The decommissioning of the first out five production uranium-graphite reactors (PUGR) was completed in the framework of the federal target program “Nuclear and Radiation Safety in 2008 and until 2015”.
2016
As soon as possible, PJSC MSZ (Elektrostal, Moscow Region) fabricated the lead set of fuel rods for a space reactor (from the order until acceptance of the set for operation took about one year and a half).
JSC TVEL and Vattenfall Nuclear Fuel AB (Sweden) signed the contract for supplies of nuclear fuel of TVS-KVADRAT design.
JSC TVEL and National Center for Nuclear Research of Poland signed the contract for supply of nuclear targets for the Polish research reactor Maria.
FC and Global Nuclear Fuel-Americas (GNF-A) signed the cooperation agreement which aimed at organizing joint activities in licensing, marketing and fabrication of fuel for operators of light-water reactors (PWRs) in the USA.
The contract was signed with one of US operators of NPPs concerning the pilot commercial use of TVS-KVADRAT fuel.
The contract was signed for the fuel supply for the Czech research reactor in 2016.
JSC TVEL signed the contract with the China Institute of Atomic Energy for the supply of fuel for experimental fast neutron reactor CEFR.
2017

JSC TVEL and Institute of Nuclear Physics of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Uzbekistan signed the contract for nuclear fuel supplies for the research reactor VVR-SM operated by INP specialists.
The contract was signed for fuel supplies for Ostrovets NPP (Belarus).
The contract for nuclear fuel supply to El Dabaa (Egypt) came into force.
The contract for fuel supply to Akkuyu NPP (Turkey) was signed.
Kovrov Mechanical Plant started series production of the new generation gas centrifuge machines GC-9+.
Fuel Company TVEL, China Nuclear Energy Industry Corporation (CNEIC) and Jiangsu Nuclear Power Corporation (JNPC) signed a package of contract documents for supplies of Russian nuclear fuel, zirconium complete parts for fuel assemblies and provision of engineering services for power units of Tianwan Nuclear Power Plant cost about US $1 billion.
2018
The specialized company “Rusatom – Additive Technologies” (RusAT Ltd., JSC TVEL’s subsidiary) has been set up within the structure of Fuel Company TVEL. It was tasked to be the sole sectoral integrator for development of the new business, i.e. additive technologies (3D printing).
JSC TVEL, as well as at some production companies of Fuel Company, has implemented the quality management system to the NQA-1 standard.
Nuclear fuel was loaded in the reactor installations of the world’s first floating nuclear power plant Akademik Lomonosov.
The new modification of nuclear fuel of the 4th generation TVSA-T.mod.2 with higher indicators of reliability and uranium consumption was loaded in the reactor of Unit No. 2 of Temelin NPP (VVER-1000).
First experimental fuel assemblies with Russian tolerant nuclear fuel were fabricated for tests in the research reactor MIR.
ROSATOM has mastered commercial fabrication of MOX uranium-plutonium fuel for BN-800 fast neutron reactor.
The contract was signed for supply of nuclear fuel for the Chinese fast neutron reactor CFR-600.
2019
Contracts were signed for nuclear fuel supplies to VVER-1200 reactors in China: Units Nos. 7 and 8 of Tianwan NPP and Units Nos. 3 and 4 of Xudapu NPP.
The contract for nuclear fuel supply to both power units of Rooppur NPP under construction in Bangladesh came into force.
The first phase of reactor tests of Russian tolerant nuclear fuel of a new safety generation was carried out in MIR reactor. First lead FAs with Russian tolerant nuclear fuel for the power reactor VVER-1000 were fabricated by PJSC NCCP and passed the acceptance procedure.
JSC TVEL and the utility ČEZ a.s. (Czech Republic) signed the agreement concerning implementation of a new modification of nuclear fuel RK-3+ for VVER-440 reactors at Dukovany NPP.
JSC TVEL supplied the first series-made batch of MOX-fuel for BN-800 fast neutron reactor to Beloyarsk NPP. In the end of the year, during repair of the power unit, the MOX-fuel FAs were loaded in the reactor core.
